A rural district with a forward-thinking vision for the development of its K-12 portfolio of schools, BSPS engaged New Vista Design for a period of five years to assist in teacher training and the development of curriculum development tools and materials.
The five-year training effort within Berrien Springs Public Schools included:
- Initial planning and coordination with BSPS leadership
- Introductory and intermediate level middle and high school PBL Workshops (see sample agendas)
- Co-creation of web-based PBL planning and assessment tools
- Monthly meetings with PBL Leadership Team/Teachers
- Onsite teacher coaching and classroom visits
- Assistance with planning for student presentations and exhibitions
- Coordination of curriculum development with school principals
- Development of PBL within BSPS’s Virtual High School program
